The Inheritance of Hope (IoH) story began with one young family facing a parent’s terminal illness – a mom and dad with young children looking for resources for their entire family as they all navigated the mom’s illness. Struck by the number of children in North Florida who live with hunger each day, Sherri Porter founded Hunger Fight in 2012. Headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, we’re a 501(C)3 non-profit agency. For students to succeed, they must first have the tools to thrive. Crayons to Classrooms is committed to providing those tools to at-risk children in the Greater Dayton Region, including Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren counties. We encourage community donations while also leveraging an extensive collection of supply chain partners to secure essential school supplies at significantly reduced costs. Then, we distribute those items at no cost to teachers in our Dayton store. This committed collaboration between business leaders, individual donors and volunteers helps to assure equal access for students in our community and fuel their love of learning.

In addition, CCH presses for access to public schools, support services including health care, and job opportunities. Our community organizers, policy specialists, and public interest attorneys advocate with people hurt by homelessness, including mothers with children, students, unaccompanied youth, returning citizens, and low-wage workers.
