Green Works in Kansas City was founded in the Fall of 2007 by Kate Corwin, an IT professional, former business owner, and community leader. Green Works began serving 12 students at one urban high school and has grown to serve more than 200 students a year. Using outdoor experiences, project-based learning, STEM career exploration, work experiences and sustainable business, we achieve our mission to empower Kansas City’s future leaders to care for the environment, contribute to our economy, and create healthy communities.
Texas Homeless Network (THN) is a non-profit membership-based organization helping communities strategically plan to prevent and end homelessness. THN works to end homelessness in Texas by collaborating with all communities, large and small, across the state to build systems to achieve this goal. We coordinate local and national advocacy efforts, data collection and research, host an annual statewide conference, and serve as the host agency for the Texas Balance of State Continuum of Care (CoC) where we assist in the coordination of programs and funding.

Sandy Hook Promise is a national nonprofit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012. Based in Newtown, Connecticut, our intent is to honor all victims of gun violence by turning our tragedy into a moment of transformation. By empowering youth to “know the signs” and uniting all people who value the protection of children, we can take meaningful actions in schools, homes, and communities to prevent gun violence and stop the tragic loss of life.
Camp Sunshine is a year-round retreat, which provides respite, support, joy and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families through various stages of a child’s illness. The program is free of charge to all families, and includes 24-hour onsite medical support. Bereavement sessions are also offered for families who have experienced the death of a child from a supported illness.

Literacy Connections is a private, not-for-profit, 501(c) (3) organization committed to helping adults and families become functionally literate. The organization works with the lowest literacy level adults in Dutchess, Columbia, Greene and Orange Counties. Our core program is to help adults to learn to read and write, and function independently. We recruit and train volunteers to provide one-to-one and small group tutoring that is student-centered.
